EXAMS ARE OVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Its that time of the year again where people just have NOTHING to do because exams are over and there is usually no homework or work to be done, but its different from after the End Of Years because the really bored, nothing to do moment in time will pass quickly and soon, we'd be back to studying for the common tests. Thus is the life of the student, a near endless cycle of studying books.
Sound's depressing.

So i watched The Boy In The Striped Pyjama's yesterday. It really was as saddening as everyone said it was. I teared up at the end and i rarely cry during movies.

So the plot is like this, in great detail. Its setting is in Germany, during the point of time where Hitler was ruling and the soldiers were killing Jews. There's an 8 year old boy, Bruno, whose father is a Nazi Soldier. His father just got promoted and their family moves to the countryside. As Bruno's maid unpacks his things at the new house, he looks out the window and see's a place which he thought was a farm in the distance. He asks his mum if he could go play at the "farm" and with the children there. His mum tells him not yet, so he has no friends, Bruno is lonely. His house is usually surrounded by soldiers and he isn't allowed to go out from the surrounding area, and not even to the backyard. His mum, who had confronted his dad about the "farm" learns that the "farm" is actually a camp for Jews. However, she thought that it was a work camp for Jews. One day, Bruno is bored outside and he sees his sister flirting with one of the young soldiers. He goes over and asks the soldier for a spare tire to make a swing. The soldier orders the Jew who happened to be working at Bruno's house to help Bruno make the swing. So the Jew helps him. As Bruno plays with the swing, he falls off and cuts his knee. The Jew helps him, and introduces himself as Pavel. Pavel who used to be a doctor, helps Bruno bandage his wound. Bruno at this point, still does not know about Jews being evil, and the Jew exterminations, etc. Bruno notices a window that can be easily opened at the backyard shed but is not allowed to go there. But, one day, he decides to explore as he likes exploring. He sneaks off into the back woods. He wanders and plays by himself before wandering near the camp. He sees a boy in a grey striped shirt and pants. He approaches this boy, but they are separated by a electric fence. He talks to the boy and learns that the boy is called Schmuel. They talk and become friends and then Schmul is called back into the camp by soldiers from afar. Bruno heads back. Meanwhile Bruno and his sister gets a home tutor who teaches them about Nazi Power and how the Jews are evil creatures. His sister slowly starts trusting the Nazi, but Bruno doubts his tutor's teachings. Bruno frequently visits Scmuel and learns that it is not a farm. Bruno asks why Schmuel is wearing striped pyjamas and learns that it is because Schmeul is a Jew and is being prisoned there and to wear those pyjamas. Back at Bruno's home, they often see smoke and smell a horrid smell from a distance. One day, Bruno's mum makes a irked face by the smoke, and the young soldier that works there, says " They smell worst when the burn dont they ". Bruno's mum then realizes that the camp is in fact not a work camp for the Jews, but actually an extermination camp. She is appalled and confronts her husband. They then have dinner together when the General of army and Bruno's grandpa visits, and the dinner includes the young soldier. As they eat, Pavel, who was helping serve food, accidently spills wine and the young soldier gets angry and drags Pavel out. He proceeds to give Pavel a serious beating and kicking. No one does anything. It is assumed that Pavel bled to death when Maria(Bruno's family's maid) is seen scrubbing the floor with Pavel nowhere to be seen. After that day, Schmuel is sent to Bruno's house to help clean cutlery & glassware. Bruno sees Schmuel and gives Schmuel a piece of cake. Schmuel eats the cake. Suddenly, the young soldier appears and sees crumbs on Schmuel's lips. He accuses Schmuel of stealing it, but Schmuel tells him that Bruno gave it to him as they are friends. Terrified by the soldier's fierce face, Bruno lies and tells him that he does not know Schmuel. Bruno feels remorsed and continuously visits the fence to apologize to Schmuel. Finally when Schmuel appears again, he has a black eye from a beating. Meanwhile, Bruno's mum confronts her husband about how close they were to the extermination camp and that it was not safe for the children. Bruno's dad finally agrees, and tells the children that they will be sent away. The day before Bruno is set to leave, Schmuel tells Bruno that his dad has gone missing in the camp. Bruno agrees to help Schmuel find his father in the camp. The two plans something. The next day, Bruno tells his mum that he wants to play before leaving, but he goes to the camp instead. He changes into the prison clothing Schmuel provided for him, digged a hole under the fence and entered the camp. Bruno realizes that the camp is dehumanizing and is not like the film that his father had shown. He is horrified. Bruno and Schmuel starts searching for Schmuel's dad. They went looking for his dad at a block of sleeping chambers but got intertwined when the nazi soldiers ordered the whole chamber to leave. They pushed ordered them to go somewhere. The two boys and other Jews were led to a room. Meanwhile, Bruno's mother realises that Bruno is missing and goes searching for him. They look at the backyard shed and sees the window opened. Bruno's mum panics and tells Bruno's dad that he is missing. Bruno's dad orders soldiers to open the door separating the backwoods with the backyard shed. They all go searching for Bruno in the woods. At the camp, Bruno, Schmuel and the other are ordered to take off all of their clothes, for a "shower". All of them are then pushed into a chamber and Bruno & Schmuel is seen holding each other's hands, terrified. Bruno's dad realizes that Bruno is in the camp and searches for him. In the chamber, a soldier from above the chamber scatters powder all over them. The powder is actually the powder that starts a deadly gas. The soldier seals the chamber and it is seen and heard the people in the chamber screaming, shouting and banging the door of the chamber to get out. Bruno's dad reaches the gas chambers. Then a scene of the chamber door, quiet and silent. Bruno's dad realizes that he's son is gone and screams Bruno's name. Bruno's mother who just reached the fence hears the scream and realizes that Bruno is gone. She clutches Bruno's homeclothes and starts crying. In the ending scene, it is shown the prisoner's clothes and the quiet chamber door, which indicates that all the prisoner's have died.

-End-
It was depressing watching that movie. ;____;
I was friggin' horrified when i realised that Bruno & Schmuel, two EIGHT year old's were also being sent into the gas chambers. And the fact that they died, was depressing. I seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY, hate Nazi and Hitler now. Gosh, and then when i read up about the book the movie was adapted from. I learnt that back during that era, there were a heck lot of children from BABIES to 12/14 year old's there, and apparently, a large amount of them were gassed everyday as they were not old enough to work. This is in reality btw. I was bloody shocked.
But all in all, it actually was a good movie, it does show you how things were during the Nazi era.

Oh ya, i failed Maths. Depressing. Depressing. OH wellllllll... Ms Leong told me that i failed because of my paper 2 which was horrible because my mistakes were really stupid, e.g. i wrote 3 sig.fig when the question asked for 2 d.p., and gradient, i wrote x over the y instead of y over the x. Really stupid shit i should have noticed. I'm just sitting here sighing. I passed Chemistry though, HEEHEEHEE.

Ikea today was fun.

I hope i did okay or better for MYE's. By that, i mean for everything else. ESPECIALLY ENGLISH. And SS. Maybe even Chemistry. Bio was easier than expected, but there might be a trick to it which might lead to me failing, so idk. I hope i pass HML, and i hope i passed History.
Oh ya, and a B3/A2 for Art.

Au Revoir.
