Fly to Seoul

The Korea trip was nice, and i'm using nice not for lack of better word, but because there's really no other way to put it. It wasn't spectacular but it wasn't a letdown either. I wasn't expecting much for the trip, maybe that's why i wasn't let down. I'm not gonna go too into the trip because of two reasons. 1. I cant really remember much of the details now. 2. Not in the mood to do so.

The airplane flight was great. Heading there, we got to see the bright city lights of Jakarta during the transit and it was beautiful. Not gonna lie, i was expecting Jakarta to be less brightly lit. Watched Friends for most of the flight from Jakarta to Seoul. Time passed quickly.
For the first 3 days (i think), the tour was spent in the countrysides of Korea. We got to eat korean cooked meals which was great! Kimchi everyday! Plus it wasn't very oily and the rice was to die for. Oh and it was all seafood since that was the only way it could be halal. One of the downsides was that i'm not really good at picking out the fishbones so at one point, a fish bone got lodged at my throat. Had to stick my hand down my throat to pull the bone out. Self harm at its finest.

We got to see a lot of the mountains at the countryside, which is by far one of the best things of the trip for me. I love mountains despite my fear my heights and the sight was so amazing. The mountains were snowcapped since it snowed a few days earlier and it made the view even more amazing! We got to climb up a mountain at the Mt. Seorak area. My insides were dying and i was trying hard not to cry. The height was a whole obstacle and adding on to it was the slipperiness of the ground due to the ice and the strong winds. All i could think about while i was climbing was how my body will crush into the ground and sink into blood stained snow if i fell. Thank god i got up and down safely. The view at the top of the mountain made up for the horrid experience of climbing for sure. I may be deadly afraid of heights and the climb up was torture, but i wouldn't mind climbing more mountains just for the view. Its on my bucket list. To climb mountains, to see the glorious views they behold.

For the next 3 days it was spent back in Seoul which was quite nice. We could only eat Indian/Moroccan/Arabic food since those were the only halal restaurants in Seoul unfortunately. The rest of the people on tour seemed to enjoy it but it was only meh for me. The good part was the wifi available at these restaurants. Only proving to me how addicted i, and the rest of the teenagers (and a few adults), am  to the internet. We had specially prepared bulgogi for us for the final day in Seoul which was nice.
In Seoul, the shopping wasn't as amazing as everyone sought it out to be. The prices were around the same as Singapore, and since we went during the winter season, all the stock were winter clothing. I managed to snag a cute dress with doe prints on it and a backpack with a cute cat on it. Clearly not being the goth i am supposed to be. I also convinced my dad to buy for me the Woody toy that they sold at the night market at Myongdong(?). Made me so happy.
We passed by the Blue House, which is where the president of S. Korea resides in. The S.Koreans are really intense about their government. There were policemen and guards EVERYWHERE in that area. I wonder how Singapore would be if we had a gazillion guards surrounding the istana like in S.Korea.
Also, the passing of N.Korean leader occurred while we were there and the south koreans went along with life as per usual. It debunked my idea of how much they hated that guy. Apparently, according to our tourguide, many S.Koreans want a better relation with N.Korea but they didn't care much about the politics. Interesting huh.

The flight back was alright. The transit in Jakarta was torture though. Soekarno-Hatta Airport needs to install more stronger airconditioning or something. The ventilation was the absolute worst.

I don't regret anything that i bought, or anything i felt and thought about the trip.
Oh and there are cute S.Koreans who dressed like hipsters there. They just helped me affirm the idea of how attracted i am to asians now.

Nice trip. The next trip in Asia i want to take is to Japan. The country of my dreams since I was 9. I'll make it come true someday.
